HOW TO TAKE YOUR TEST READ THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION SESSION WHEN YOU ARE READY TO TAKE YOUR TEST, CLICK "TAKE TEST" AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE. EDUCATION SESSION - 2 SPORTSMANSHIP AND ETHICS CAPTAIN AL BERNETTI Our future on the water depends on many things, and this session deals with some important ones! Some environmental groups want to restrict our access to our waterways, bad behavior on the water gives them examples to use against us! Taking proper care of our outboard motors means less pollution in our water. How would you like it if someone put gasoline on your food? Utilizing trolling motors or poling or wading through shallow water means we don’t destroy grassbeds that are vital to the health of our resource. We need to interact with our environment with as little impact as possible. Sportsmanship, “ The Teen Angler Way”, is nothing more than being considerate of your fellow angler and our environment. Treating them “the way you want to be treated” Cheating is cause for immediate expulsion! No exceptions, No 2nd chance! Teen Anglers must hook and play their own fish! Anyone that gives a Teen Angler a fish has just expelled that teen from the program! The launch ramp is a place to meet new boaters, and experienced boaters. What is one way to tell the difference? Their ability to launch the boat, right? Instead of being critical of your fellow boater, try being helpful; ask if they would like some assistance. Everyone will get on the water quicker, and without spoiling a day on the water, because of an argument or attitude. Only keep, as many fish as you need, catch and release means there will be fish to catch in the future. Plastic is everywhere! Lure wrappers and the like! Some estimate that plastic takes hundreds of years to breakdown. Birds and turtles and other wildlife that we share the outdoors with are injured or killed by the plastic humans leave behind. If you see it, make sure no one else does, Pick It Up! What matters is not: “Who left it the 1st time”, but the Teen Angler “who left it the 2nd Time”! Teen Anglers are Leaders by example!
