EDUCATION SESSION - 1 ORIENTATION: THE “TEEN ANGLER WAY” CAPTAIN AL BERNETTI The founding premise of the Teen Angler program is to provide a better educated angler that will take care of the resource and the Fish species we pursue. “Teen Anglers” are environmentalists, but pressure to close or otherwise restrict our accessibility to America’s outdoors can only be countered through education and proactive involvement. The “Teen Angler Way” involves 3 main principles: 1. Safety 2. Education 3. Fun! Consideration for, the “species” we pursue, and those, with whom we share the water, should be of utmost importance to the Teen Angler! The rapidly changing world of products and equipment that we use on the water demands that we change and adapt with them! Teen Anglers believes everyone utilizing the waterways should be required to pass a boater safety course. The accepted speed limit on a freeway is 70 miles per hour, and many boats today can easily exceed that limit, and do so on any given day. To help ensure and protect the future of the sport, we believe that the Teen Anglers should be proactive in the restriction of alcohol on the water! A healthy fishery means a healthy sport, as a Teen Angler we need to Insure that “ proper care and handling” of our fish is a priority! DON'T WANT TO TAKE THIS TEST RIGHT NOW? |
