Minn Kota Talon Giveaway
Shallow water anchors have become vital tools for
shallow water anglers. They provide steady, secure boat position to
more effectively fish an area. Being more thorough can mean more
fish.
We have been testing the new Minn
Kota Talon
here at Wired2Fish
for several months now, and we are very impressed. It is simple to
install, works off of one of your batteries and comes equipped with
two Talon
remotes (one for the angler and the other
can be mounted to the dash) and a mounting bracket that allows you
to use it effectively immediately after you put it on your boat.
The spike deploys and retracts quickly and
quietly while holding the boat securely on all types of bottom
compositions. The built-in intelligence will continue to drive the
spike deeper in soft bottoms after the initial deployment. Rough
water mode detects waves and rough water and drives the spike deeper
when needed.
The Talon also has some other neat accessories
available like tilt brackets, jackplate brackets, and covers to
protect your Talons from road grime.
Minn Kota and Wired2Fish would like to give one
Wired2Fish reader the chance to own a new Talon.
All you have to do is sign up here, and you are in. It's that easy!
You can read all about the Minn
Kota Talon and see all of the Talon Accessories by visiting MinnKotaMotors.com.
Contest ends May 17th, 2012. Good Luck!

FLORIDA
Snook season reopening
on Atlantic coast only
The recreational harvest season for snook reopens on
Feb. 1 in Florida’s Atlantic coastal and inland waters, including Lake
Okeechobee and the Kissimmee River.
Anglers may keep one snook between 28
and 32 inches total length per day in the allowable harvest areas only.
Fishermen targeting snook must have a snook permit as well as a
saltwater license unless they are exempt from having a license. Using
snatch hooks and spears is prohibited.
It is illegal to buy or sell snook.
The harvest of snook remains closed in
all of Florida’s Gulf of Mexico state waters, including Everglades
National Park and Monroe County, until Aug. 31. Anglers may still catch
and release snook during the closure, but the FWC encourages everyone to
handle and release these fish carefully to help ensure their survival
upon release.
This Gulf closure went into effect
Dec. 15, 2010, after the population was impacted by prolonged cold
weather. The closure will give the Gulf snook population time to
rebound. A stock assessment completed by the FWC’s Fish and Wildlife
Research Institute is due to the Commission in 2012.
Visit MyFWC.com/Fishing and click on “Saltwater” for
more information on snook.
NEW JERSEY
The NJ School of Conservation in Sussex County
will again be the host site for an
exciting Coldwater Conservation School
being offered by the NJDEP Division of
Fish and Wildlife and the NJ State Council of Trout Unlimited and its
supporting chapters.
The School will be held June 28 - July
1
and is open to youths who will be between the
ages of 11 and 14 at the time of the program.
The goal of the School is to foster knowledge
and appreciation of trout and the coldwater habitats on which they
depend.
Understanding all of the elements necessary for
healthy streams and good trout habitat helps students realize the
importance of stream and water quality protection, and roles they can play
in stream conservation.
Division biologists and instructors from
Trout Unlimited will teach sessions about stream ecology, fish habitat,
fish biology and identification, aquatic insect identification, fly tying,
fly-casting, and stream restoration.
There will also be evening programs where
students will learn about reptiles and New Jersey's black bears.
The cost of the Coldwater Conservation School is
only $200.00,
which includes food, lodging and equipment for
the entire 4 days and 3 nights.
The application form and more information is
available at http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/news/2012/cons_school.htm
on the division's website.

NEW JERSEY
The
9th Annual NJFW Pequest Event 2012 is just around the corner.
Al,
myself and Teen Anglers will not be able to host the event. The issues
with central Florida have taken its toll. We will miss all of you
very, very much.
We
have spoken to Mark Boriek, the chief Biologist from NJFW, who was
instrumental in starting the event, he would like to keep it going. He
along with Frank and a few others will be hosting the event. They are
both there every year too : ) They are awesome people!
All
sign-ups will go through Teen Anglers, as usual, and I will forward
everything onto Mark.
Mark
will need your help with donations and contributions. Once sign-ups
are up....mid June...I will send out a sign-up sheet for contributions
like...cases of water, napkins, hot dogs, buns, ketchup, mustard,
plates, chips.
Being
able to fish there is the greatest prize!
Thank
you for your support and understanding.
